Baptism - Chrismation - the Eucharist The Gates of Entry into the Kingdom of God
The Sacraments of Initiation. Conclusions
The Mystery of the entry into the Kingdom of God of a baby is a unique and very important event, both for his or her immediate family (parents, godparents, relatives), and for his or her new extended family (the church community where this Mystery is celebrated and the entire Orthodox Church).
Preparation is very important: both materially (by providing everything necessary for the celebration of the Mystery), and especially spiritually (through the parents and godparents confessing and receiving Communion – their union with Christ – and through catechesis to help them understand the significance of the event.
Baptism represents the beginning of a path. The baby, parents and godparents must continue on this path, living in the church – by regularly participating in the Divine Liturgy and by observing Christian life principles.
